Welcome to Cravings — a no-frills, grab-&-go sandwich shop located in the heart of Mason Avenue in Historic Cape Charles, Virginia.
Our concept is simple: homemade food, made fresh daily, without the long wait. No ordering lines, no custom sandwiches, and no hungry bellies. Our grab-&-go approach makes it quick and easy to grab lunch for your whole crew and get back to the beach, boat, or golf cart.
Margaret & Matt first fell in love with Cape Charles in 2017 while visiting from Portsmouth nearly every weekend. One afternoon sitting on the beach, they overheard a group wondering where they could grab a quick, easy lunch without a long wait. That conversation sparked the idea for Cravings.
With Margaret’s background as a pastry chef and baker for over 12 years — along with a degree in Hospitality Management from East Carolina University — the dream quickly became reality. Matt encouraged the leap, and together they quit their jobs, sold their house, moved to Oyster in 2020, and opened Cravings in July 2021.
Cravings was built around one unique idea: grab-&-go only. By simplifying the ordering process, Margaret and Matt are able to focus on what matters most — making fresh, homemade food every single morning.
Every day starts at 5 AM in their tiny 200-square-foot kitchen where breads are baked, chicken is roasted, meats are sliced, cookies are baked, sauces are mixed, and sandwiches are prepared fresh for the day ahead.
From homemade focaccia and croissants to chicken salad, pimento cheese, cookies, desserts, sauces, and dressings — nearly everything at Cravings is made in-house.
The goal has always been simple: delicious homemade food that gives you more time enjoying Cape Charles and less time waiting for lunch.
Cravings may do things a little differently, but that’s exactly what makes it special.
